For Science Week, we've been learning about the 4 seasons! We've been focusing on Autumn and have made different art based on it. On Thursday we went on an trail around the school grounds. We looked for different shapes, different Autumnal colours, did rubbings of leaves and the paths! We were so busy we forgot to take lots of pictures 🙈
We have had a very busy week in Ash Class. This week was Science week. We spent some time outdoors exploring our environment. We listened for sounds and identified shapes in the environment. We done some leaf and pavement rubbings with crayons. In Aistear this week we looked at the Supermarket. Children took turns to play shopkeepers and customers in the role play area. We made beautiful artwork using vegetable printing. Today was wear blue for Diabetes Day. The class learned a little about what it is like to have diabetes. We reflected on our week and decided what our two stars and a wish were for the week. Our wish for next week is to try out some more art activities in Aistear and work hard on our learning our sight words. A big congratulations to Gabriele who is our student of the week. Gabriele has been working hard on learning her sight words and blending our letters to make words like sat, sit, at and it! Congratulations also to the Orange table who are our table of the week. Check out some photos of week below. Today we used the leaves that we had collected in the forest school yesterday to make some autumn art! We chose leaves of different autumn colours to create our own autumn tree!
This week the Chestnut Class will perform during assembly! We've been learning a folk dance and worked really hard to remember all the steps! We recorded our dance today so we could show all of our family what we've been learning! On Tuesday the Chestnut Class journeyed over to the forest school to collect lots of Autumn leaves! We've been learning about the 4 seasons and were observing the different autumn colours that we could find. We tried to find lots of leaves of different colours that we could use for an art project!
Last week, to celebrate Diwali we made candle holders know as Diyas. We made salt dough during our Aistear play and later that day molded our Diyas. We left them for two days to dry out and on Friday we painted and decorated them with glitter and sequins. We also coloured in some beautiful Rangolis during Aistear and stuck them up around the classroom.
Congratulations to Heila who was our student of the week last week. Heila shows great initiative in class and is a great helper to her teacher and fellow classmates. A big congratulations also to the green table who were our table of the week last week. A reminder to parents to sign up to Google Classroom where you will get updates on homework each week and get login details for your child's Reading Eggs. If you have any questions please get in touch [email protected] In Junior Infants this month we're learning all about the supermarket! Today we started our supermarket Aistear. We are pretending to be shopkeepers and customers! Greeting each other and paying for our shopping. We're also playing some supermarket memory games, designing car parks and playing with a small world bakery.
