In the Chestnut Class we've been learning how to add numbers together. We're rolling a dice and then counting out that number of counters. Then we write the number underneath. We roll the dice again and repeat for the other side. Then we add the numbers together and find the answer on our number fans! We're getting so good at counting and are working hard at writing our numbers!

Ash Class brought in lots of recyclable materials this week and we decided to make a Robot together. The class had an opportunity to explore the junk art material individually during Aistear play. We then work together at our tables to create a class robot. Each table got a part of the Robot (head, legs, arms, etc.) to work on as a team. We created the class Robot Freddy. Check out the photos of our great work and fun below. A pupil in the Ash class has developed a severe allergic reaction (anaphylaxis) to Kiwis.
Therefore we have to implement an immediate ban on kiwis in the classrorom ie. NO KIWIS IN ASH CLASS This should minimise the risk to your child's classmate Thank you for your support and understanding. Have a lovely weekend, Junior Infant Team Throughout Aistear this week, the boys and girls in the Chestnut Class have been working on a piece of space art. They painted a planet, add glittering stars and then designed themselves in a rocket flying around the solar system. We have them up on the wall to show them off and we'll send them home in a bit after the other classes have had a chance to look at them!
This term Ash Class have been enjoying Athletics each week with their teacher Ciarán. They demonstrate excellent listening skills with Ciarán, take turns in their teams and always try their hardest even when the activity is a challenge. Today they practiced relay racing with batons and hoola hoops, running over hurdles and some nerf ball over-arm throwing at the end.
A huge thanks to all the families who sent stuff in for junk art this week. We got so many different materials and items to work with! Today we got into pairs and looked at 2 different ways to join and connect items. We got into pairs and started working on our projects. We are making rockets, space stations and even space cars from our imagination!
If you have more materials at home keep sending them in as tomorrow we are going to continue our work and learn another 2 ways to connect items together. The plan is currently to paint on Thursday and then we'll take photos with the finished projects on Friday! This week we began the theme of space during Aistear. Ash class love this theme and have really engaged in all activities. Take a look at some of our activities below.
Today in our athletics lesson we are practicing throwing at targets. If we get a beanbag in the 1st ring we get 1 point, 2 points for the middle ring and 3 points for the last one! We've to throw carefully and then add up all our points!
We're having a super time in Chestnut Class at the moment. We've been dressing up as astronauts and blasting into space to visit our space station. We're painting planets from our imagination after we've looked at lots of pictures of the planets in our solar system! We're also building rockets, space stations and even mars rovers using duplo and magnet blocks!
Congratulations to our Student and Table of the Week! They all worked so hard this week to earn their awards.
