In Junior Infants we've been learning all about different people in the community who help us. We were lucky to have a visit from our local community garda Daire today. Daire spoke to us about how he helps the community, he answered our questions and he even gave us a chance to look at his garda car!
Today we made this video for our assembly performance. We've been talking all about people who help us and made this for our new song! This week we began the topic of people who help us in the community.
Our role-play area is a classroom which the class are having lots of fun in. Our small world area is busy each day with children pretending to put out fires. We have been busy making beautiful artwork and also thinking about our visit from a Guard on Friday. A reminder to send in homework (When I Grow Up I Want to be...) by Friday. We had an extra special award this week instead of Student of the Week. This week was Handwriting of the Month. This award goes to someone who makes a special effort with their handwriting! Table of the Week went to the Blue Table who worked together as team and helped each other to earn as many points as possible. Well done Blue Table!
In the Chestnut Class we've been learning how to add numbers together. We're rolling a dice and then counting out that number of counters. Then we write the number underneath. We roll the dice again and repeat for the other side. Then we add the numbers together and find the answer on our number fans! We're getting so good at counting and are working hard at writing our numbers!
Ash Class brought in lots of recyclable materials this week and we decided to make a Robot together. The class had an opportunity to explore the junk art material individually during Aistear play. We then work together at our tables to create a class robot. Each table got a part of the Robot (head, legs, arms, etc.) to work on as a team. We created the class Robot Freddy. Check out the photos of our great work and fun below. A pupil in the Ash class has developed a severe allergic reaction (anaphylaxis) to Kiwis.
Therefore we have to implement an immediate ban on kiwis in the classrorom ie. NO KIWIS IN ASH CLASS This should minimise the risk to your child's classmate Thank you for your support and understanding. Have a lovely weekend, Junior Infant Team Throughout Aistear this week, the boys and girls in the Chestnut Class have been working on a piece of space art. They painted a planet, add glittering stars and then designed themselves in a rocket flying around the solar system. We have them up on the wall to show them off and we'll send them home in a bit after the other classes have had a chance to look at them!
