Congratulations to our Student of the Week and our Table of the Week! A few weeks ago another table won Table of the Week but we didn't have time to take a picture. I've been reminded daily about that since and today I finally remembered to take the picture!

Today we have been pretending to be weather forecasters on tv! We've been learning all of our weather words and today we put them into action by going on tv and telling everyone the weather! We can't wait to do more of it next week!
For Science Week, we've been learning about the 4 seasons! We've been focusing on Autumn and have made different art based on it. On Thursday we went on an trail around the school grounds. We looked for different shapes, different Autumnal colours, did rubbings of leaves and the paths! We were so busy we forgot to take lots of pictures 🙈
Today we used the leaves that we had collected in the forest school yesterday to make some autumn art! We chose leaves of different autumn colours to create our own autumn tree!
This week the Chestnut Class will perform during assembly! We've been learning a folk dance and worked really hard to remember all the steps! We recorded our dance today so we could show all of our family what we've been learning! On Tuesday the Chestnut Class journeyed over to the forest school to collect lots of Autumn leaves! We've been learning about the 4 seasons and were observing the different autumn colours that we could find. We tried to find lots of leaves of different colours that we could use for an art project!
In Junior Infants this month we're learning all about the supermarket! Today we started our supermarket Aistear. We are pretending to be shopkeepers and customers! Greeting each other and paying for our shopping. We're also playing some supermarket memory games, designing car parks and playing with a small world bakery.
On Wednesday we learned all about Diwali and how it is celebrated by Hindus and Sikhs all over the world. We made salt dough using flour, salt and water and then used that to make diyas. Diyas are oil lamps that Hindus use to bring light to the home to welcome the Godess Lakshmi during Diwali. We looked at lots of different pictures and then made our own and added patterns and details using matchsticks! Eoin put them in the oven for a few hours to dry out and today we took them outside to paint. We were hoping to take them home today for Diwali but they just weren't dry enough!
In the maths area outside, we made sets of different amounts of stones and practiced adding stones to make bigger numbers, and putting stones back to make smaller numbers!
