Today our very kind ANA Chimgee surprised us with dumplings to try. During Aistear we did colouring of dumpling sheets and learned how to make different kinds of dumplings in the play dough area. Some were easy to fold while others were a little more complicated. During Maths we added dumplings and explored maths equations and symbols.
At lunch time Chimgee brought homemade dumplings in for the class to try. Our teacher Siobhán had never tried a dumpling before. She thought they were delicious. The class enjoyed learning about the tradition of making dumplings to celebrate the new year in Mongolia. Thank you to Chimgee for this lovely experience. We look forward to learning more about the country of Mongolia as part of intercultural May this year.

We were very lucky to have Redwood Class visit us last week during Book Week! They sat with us and read us lots of stories. We had such a good time meeting some new boys and girls in our schools and hearing some exciting stories!
Ash Class have really been enjoying reading this week. They enjoyed shared reading with Willow and Kamilah class. We also went on an adventure around the school to find strange places to read.
Ash Class kicked off the week with some Aistear play where we are learning all about Spring. We opened a Garden Centre in the Role-play area which both classes really enjoyed. After Aistear we took part in a whole school parade to create awareness for Down Syndrome. Some people wore the colour purple or odd socks to celebrate the day. Today we started shared reading in Ash Class. We are looking for volunteers to attend on Monday 28th March and Monday 4th of April from 12:35-12:55pm to read with a group of students. We would love the class to experience stories from different cultures and in different languages so if you wish to bring in a book in your home language we would love that. If you can attend please email me at [email protected] We showed off all our green clothing and the flag we made in class today at our very own parade! We listened to lots of Irish music and did our parade! We then listened to music for the rest of breaktime and had a great time dancing and having fun! We were so excited to finally perform our songs on stage today! We hope you all enjoyed watching the show as much as we enjoyed performing it! Once we have the recording we will share it with you!
We all had a wonderful first day to Seachtain na G1aeilge today. We spent some time learning some new Irish dances in our classrooms before we went to the hall with Senior Infants to have a big Ceilí! We had so much fun! Here is a video and some pictures below. This morning Ash Class put on their engineer hats and participated in different science experiments. The experiments included creating a car to fit a giraffe from blocks, looking at items that float and sink, magnet mazes, bee bots and magnet hunting.
Thank you to Timi and Vesma who volunteered to help out with the different stations. We really enjoyed having you in Ash Class. Take a look at some of the fun we had below. |
